On April 22nd, we plan to offer an in-person half-day training session of HIA-C. This half-day workshop, led by Dr. Sandra Whitehead, introduces a method for embedding cumulative impact analysis into Health Impact Assessment (HIA). Participants will learn how to evaluate the ways in which environmental, social, and community conditions — taken together over time — can influence health outcomes in populations living near new developments, infrastructure, or redevelopment sites.
Through a practical case study, attendees will explore how to map overlapping factors, assess combined risks, and generate recommendations aimed at protecting public health and supporting long-term community resilience.
Intended for public health staff, planners, regulators, and community stakeholders, the workshop provides clear, evidence-based tools to inform decisions around permitting, zoning, redevelopment, and local planning — helping ensure future decisions support healthier, more sustainable communities.
