Community Guide to Cumulative Impacts

Coming Clean and the Union of Concerned Scientists presented about the process of co-authoring a Community Guide to Cumulative Impacts and translating it fully into Spanish.
Cumulative impacts is a scientific concept born out of environmental justice communities to assess and address the multitude of environmental stressors and burdens that communities face. This includes environmental assessments and decisions that reflect multiple chemicals, pathways, sources, and routes. It can also include social adversities like exposure to racism and material hardship, as well as existing health conditions.
The Community Guide to Cumulative Impacts was co-developed by nine environmental justice and grassroots community leaders to provide communities with resources to implement these health-protective policies. We developed the Guide in an inclusive and non-extractive way in partnership with grassroots partners. During this webinar, we explain the development and content of the Community Guide to Cumulative Impacts, including the basics, science, laws and rules, and organizing for cumulative impacts.
