HIA How To: Screening and Scoping

Screening and scoping are the first and second stages of a Health Impact Assessment (HIA). Beginning with quality screening and scoping phases helps to ensure the project's success on multiple levels. During the screening and scoping phases, HIA feasibility, resources, and parameters are determined; health impacts are prioritized; and a work plan for the HIA is set out.  SOPHIA President Sandra Whitehead explored screening and scoping considerations, goal setting and when and how to engage stakeholders.  A recording of the event can be accessed here.
