Making the Most out of Five Minutes: 2019 Practitioner Workshop Lightning Talk Round
Back by popular demand! Lightning talks are fast-paced, 5-minute presentations that are meant to be fun and informative. Since the 2016 Practitioner Workshop the lightning talk session has provided a dynamic platform to highlight innovative and HIA work and resources. Capitalizing on the theme of the workshop, we want to hear how you have made the most out of your practice.
Get creative about sharing how you have made the most of your practice! Maybe you want to talk about how you have leveraged resources or relationships in a unique way, or perhaps you have a story to share about utilizing outcomes from an HIA to create more lasting policy change. You may even have a story about an assessment that didn't go according to plan but had an unexpected positive outcome.
Presenters develop 15 slides, have them automatically advance every 20 seconds, and develop a narrative to deliver as the slides advance. For an example of how this works, please check out the Pecha Kucha website.
In an abstract of less than 200 words tell us about your Lightning Talk idea and how it addresses or illustrates how you make the most of your practice. We encourage you to be creative in your thinking about how you frame your work and how you present it! Abstracts are due no later than 11:59 p.m. PDT on
January 25 , 2019 February 1, 2019. Submit online using this form.
Review and selection of speakers will take place a week after and all speakers will be notified via email by Friday February 15, 2019. The selection committee is looking for talks that are inspirational, funny and/or innovative! Selected speakers will join the selection committee for an online rehearsal in mid-March. More details on rehearsal will be available to the selected speakers. We look forward to receiving your Lightning Talk ideas. Don’t delay! Submissions will fill up fast…lightning fast!
