Health impact assessment (HIA) can be a useful tool for helping the energy sector evaluate its health impacts, clarify its responsibilities to local communities and host governments, and plan any appropriate actions to manage those impacts. Energy companies have a strong 'business case' for conducting impact assessments, including protecting their reputation, securing a license to operate, manage risks, demonstrating corporate social responsibility, and differentiating their services from competitors.
