Minnesota’s statewide health assessment tells the story of Minnesota’s health across multiple topics. Produced by the Minnesota Department of Health and a group of cross-sectoral organizations called the Healthy Minnesota Partnership (the Partnership), the assessment informs statewide action plans for improving health in Minnesota. In the most recent assessment, three new Policy Profiles explore the connection between health and three select policy areas: paid family and medical leave, tree canopy cover, and broadband internet access. In an effort to uplift the impact of systems on health and Health in All Policies, these profiles explore how policies, at the local, state, organizational, and national levels, influence health and well-being. They also explore who is impacted by policy areas and how these may contribute to health inequities. Profiles were developed collaboratively and included steps such as identifying topics, consulting about data with subject experts at other Minnesota state agencies and drafting and editing the profiles themselves. This presentation will provide an overview of the template and process for developing these profiles and an opportunity to apply the approach on a policy area relevant to your area of work.
