SOPHIA's 2016 HIA Practitioner Workshop

SOPHIA HIA PRACTITIONER WORKSHOP

OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA

The HIA Practitioner Workshop (formerly HIA of the Americas) is intended for current practitioners of Health Impact Assessment interested in strategic field building. Attendees at the two-day workshop will learn and share ideas through presentations, and further the practice of HIA in small working groups.

DRAFT AGENDA

The objectives of this two-day workshop are to:

• Build a community of HIA practitioners by offering an intimate forum to network and share ideas and tools that elevate the practice of HIA; and
• Promote excellence in HIA by sharing best practices, tackling challenging HIA related issues, and disseminating resources and work products developed by the working groups.

A detailed agenda will be available on the conference website in the next few months.

Payment

In order to confirm your participation at the workshop, you will need to click the "Register" button on the left to pay your non-refundable registration fee by February 1, 2016.

Scholarships

Scholarships for registration fees and/or travel may be available for conference participants. When registering for the conference, you will be given the option to indicate whether you would like to be considered for a scholarship. We will then contact you with further information. 

Workshop Location

The HIA Practitioner Workshop will be held at The California Endowment, 1111 Broadway 7th Floor, Oakland, CA 94607. Click on these links for driving directions and parking information. Downtown Oakland is easily accessible by BART, which provides easy transportation to many Bay Area locations including the San Francisco and Oakland International airports (SFO and OAK).

Lodging

A block of rooms has been reserved at the Waterfront Hotel, about 0.7 miles from the workshop location. The negotiated group rate of $179 will be available until February 8, 2016. To receive the group rate, you can call the hotel and mention that you are part of HIA Practitioner Workshop. You can also reserve a room at the group rate online. We suggest booking your hotel accommodations as soon as possible to ensure availability.
