Making the Most of Practitioner Creativity

Do you have an exciting new tool to share, expertise in a novel HIA method, or just want to set aside time to talk about an important issue related to your HIA work? We are looking for interesting and innovative ways to explore HIA-related topics and your practitioner experiences relevant to the field. Selected submissions will create the basis for concurrent breakout sessions during the second day of the Practitioner Workshop!

To submit an idea for consideration, please describe the content or topic in 250 words or less. This description could be in the form of traditional academic abstract (like a paper about implementing a new tool or sharing results of specific assessment), a high-level topic or concept around which to build a session (for example health equity or climate change), or anything in between. You can submit as a single presenter/facilitator or partner with up to four other practitioners. In addition to an explanation of your content idea, please propose a session format in 150 words or less. This could range from a 20 minute presentation that you think could fit into a larger panel to a full 75 minute interactive mini-workshop that generates a new contribution to HIA practice. We are looking for a variety of session types, so be creative!

Example Sessions:

  • Three-person panel discussion on HIA work within the juvenile justice system
  • Facilitated innovative community engagement skill-share session
  • Interactive session presenting a new tool and soliciting feedback

Abstracts are due no later than 11:59 p.m. PDT on January 25, 2019 February 1, 2019. Submit online using this form.
